▲ List making instructions: The "2019 Top 100 Zhejiang Merchants in Ningbo" list is sorted according to the size of the company's annual sales (operating) revenue based on international and domestic regulations. Sales (operating) revenue refers to the overall sales revenue of the enterprise (including its subsidiaries); For companies that publish their performance in US dollars and other units, the conversion will be based on the exchange rate as of December 31, 2018; Some companies calculate based on published fiscal year data. The ranking data comes from self declaration by enterprises, annual reports of listed companies, and reports from authoritative media. This list focuses more on the development status of private enterprises in Ningbo, and does not include enterprises that involve state-owned capital or local government capital.

As is well known, the economy of Ningbo has two characteristics: the "Ningbo Gang" and the Ningbo Port. Since the reform and opening up, with the strategy of "developing the city with the port and promoting the port with the city", Ningbo's economy has made significant progress. As one of the "three carriages", import and export have injected strong impetus into the economic growth of Ningbo. In 2013, Ningbo's foreign trade achieved a total import and export volume of 100.33 billion US dollars, becoming the first city in Zhejiang Province to have a total foreign trade volume exceeding 100 billion US dollars.

The "Ningbo Gang" mainly reflects the development of Ningbo's private economy, which can be said to have supported the majority of Ningbo's economy. Data shows that the private economy contributes 63% of Ningbo's regional GDP and 88% of its general public budget revenue. According to data, there are currently 300000 private enterprises and nearly 520000 individual industrial and commercial households in Ningbo. In other words, based on the permanent population (8.202 million), there is an average of one boss per 10 people and one private entrepreneur per 27 people in Ningbo.

The role of the private economy as the backbone is also fully reflected in Ningbo's foreign trade. In the first quarter of 2019, the total import and export volume of foreign trade in Ningbo was 204.97 billion yuan (130.21 billion yuan for exports and 74.75 billion yuan for imports). Among them, the export volume achieved by private enterprises was 93.73 billion yuan, accounting for 93.3% of the city's export contribution and 72.0% of the city's export volume. The import volume of private enterprises was 40.2 billion yuan, accounting for 53.8% of the city's import volume.

The strength of Ningbo's private economy has also been fully confirmed in the "2019 Zhejiang Merchants Ningbo Top 100" list. The entry threshold for the "Top 100 Zhejiang Merchants in Ningbo" this time is 710 million yuan, and the total revenue of the listed companies is 914.16 billion yuan, just one step away from trillions. From the perspective of individual enterprises, the top three have all surpassed the 80 billion mark - the top three, Yagor, AUX, and Ningbo Jintian, had revenues of 87.9 billion yuan, 86 billion yuan, and 83.99 billion yuan respectively last year. At the same time, the list also reflects the clustering effect and leading effect of "leaders". The total revenue of the top 10 is 518.25 billion yuan, accounting for 56.69% of the total revenue of the top 100. From an industry perspective, the most comprehensive enterprises on the list are 18; Next are the mechanical equipment and automotive industries, with 15 and 11 companies respectively.
